Ibuprofen

Indications/Uses

Reduction of fever. Relief of pain in toothache, headache, muscle pain, post-op pain in association w/ tooth extraction & rheumatic diseases.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult 200 mg 3-4 times daily. Childn 1-12 yr Reduction of fever Temp <39°C 5 mg/kg. Temp >39°C 10 mg/kg. To be taken 3-4 times daily. Supp Fever Adult 200-400 mg 4-6 hrly. Max: 1.2 g. Childn 6 mth-12 yr 10 mg/kg. Max: 40 mg/kg. Mild to moderate pain Adult 200-400 mg 4-6 hrly. Max: 1.2 g. Childn 4-10 mg/kg 6-8 hrly. OA & joint pain Adult 400-800 mg 3-4 times daily. Max: 3.2 g. Menstrual pain Adult 200-400 mg 3-6 hrly. Max: 1.2 g.

Administration

Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.

Contraindications

History of peptic ulcer. Patients in whom aspirin or other NSAIDs induce the symptoms of asthma, rhinitis or urticaria.
